No water equals lots of work

Keeping up with a routine is tough when there isn’t any water. We’ve been busy boiling, fetching and catching as much water as we can.

Normally I wouldn’t see this whole boil-water advisory as anything more than a minor inconvenience. But being a paranoid new parent, I want to make sure the little fella stays healthy.

The other day after one of his massive dumps, I found myself forced to throw him in the tub for a scrub down. The whole time I tried to keep the water away from his mouth and face to ensure he didn’t swallow any. When I took him out, I cleaned his hand seperately with bottled water and soap because he tends to stick them in his mouth.

Later I was thinking back and laughing to myself about. But if I have to bathe him again, I will probably do the same thing to ensure he doesn’t get sick.

What amazes me about all of this is the extent in which I’ll go to make sure he and his mom are OK. Before he came along, I was a little more carefree about our health and wellness.

To stay healthy and fit, I’ve started to try and exercise in the evening while he’s sleeping. I’ve even invented some new exercises. I call the one below “baby curls.”

It looks bad in the photo, but he loves it. And now that he’s weighing in at just over 12 lbs., 20 of these suckers are good for the biceps. I’ve also been trying to do some push-ups, sit-ups and squat thrusts to keep slim, while I’m locked up in the apartment in the evening. Walks are good too, we just never seem to get out on any.
